Discover Khem Beach in Phu Quoc

Known as the “Kingdom of the Sea”, Phu Quoc Island boasts many beautiful beaches — and one cannot fail to mention Khem Beach. If you have planned a trip to Phu Quoc, be sure to visit Khem Beach for some of the most exciting moments of your journey.
1. Where is Khem Beach?
Khem Beach, also simply called Kem Beach, lies in the south of Phu Quoc, about 25 km from the former Duong Dong ward. This hidden gem was only opened to visitors in 2009, after the military ceased to manage the area.

With its pristine natural beauty, crystal-clear blue water, white sand, golden sunshine and pleasant weather, it has become one of the most beautiful beaches in Phu Quoc and a magnet for travel lovers.
In 2018 Khem Beach set its own record, being named one of the 50 most beautiful beaches in the world by the Canadian travel company Flight Network. Anyone who has never set foot on its sand and swum in its cool water is truly missing out!
2. When is the best time to visit Khem Beach?
Phu Quoc enjoys cool, mild weather all year round, so you can visit Khem Beach in any season — each one offers something different.
The dry season, from October to March, brings little rain, gentle sunshine, calm waves and a tranquil sea, so the beach is wonderfully lively. Rain in Phu Quoc is also different from elsewhere: it mostly falls in the early morning and is rarely heavy, so visiting during the rainy season (April to September) is not a bad idea either.
3. Directions to Khem Beach
Khem Beach is not far from the former Duong Dong ward, so many visitors choose to travel by motorbike. There are two routes:
- Route 1: Ride along the old Duong Dong road towards the Phu Quoc prison historical site, then turn right. Once you see the sign for the military zone, continue for another 4 km.
- Route 2: From the former Duong Dong ward, follow the road opposite Cafe 252. It is narrow with potholes, so take care in the rain — but the scenery is beautiful and perfect for photo stops.
4. Where to stay near Khem Beach?
Although it is a relatively new beach, accommodation here is already well developed — from homestays and hotels to resorts and luxury villas. Choose the place that best suits your preferences, budget and travel plans.
Your trip will be even more complete if you set aside time for the island's attractions: the Phu Quoc United Center complex with Grand World — the city that never sleeps — Vietnam's largest theme park VinWonders Phu Quoc and the semi-wild Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc.
